Ground source heat pumps provide one of the most efficient ways of heating and cooling properties using renewable energy. They are used to replace heating systems which are powered by oil, gas, electricity and other forms of fuel.
Carbon Dioxide and other greenhouse gases are emitted through the burning of fossil fuels and the generation of electricity.
Owing to the efficiency of ground source heat pumps, they provide an environmentally friendly heating solution – typically 70% saving – 4 to 1 – Geothermal heating through ground source heat pumps is very efficient. 4 times as much heat is delivered, compared to electrical energy used to power the heat pump itself.
Not only did the installation at WCA deliver annual heating oil savings of £6,775, but it is also reducing CO2 emissions by 40 tonnes per year.
Energy Source |
CO2 Emissions |
|---|---|
| Heating Oil | 2.53kg CO2 per litre |
| LPG | 1.495kg CO2 per litre |
| Electricity | 0.543kg CO2 per kWh |
“Over 70% saving – 4 to 1 - Geothermal heating through ground source heat pumps is very efficient. 4 times more heat is delivered, than electrical energy used to power the heat pump itself”
